CS-FGM

The coordinated strategies

The Coordinated Strategies for fighting Female Genital Mutilation (CS-FGM) is a network bringing together Belgian stakeholders from various sectors concerned with female genital mutilation, such as health professionals, lifelong education professionals, childhood sector professionals, judicial sector professionals, asylum seeker support sector professionals, youth support professionals, as well as individuals affected by excision, policymakers, and others.

A strong network

The coordinated strategies were established in 2008 in response to a realization by the main field-associations: a need for coordination among the field actors conducting actions on FGM

The network’s objective is to improve the quality of prevention and support for women and girls affected by the issue. Additionally, it aims to gain recognition for the work of these organizations by political and administrative bodies.

Together, the organizations and individuals who are members of the CS-FGM exchange ideas and reflect on their practices regarding the prevention of FGM. Numerous workshops, both methodological and thematic, have been organized since the inception of the network.

Over the past three years, the Coordinated Strategies Network for Fighting Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) has organized a series of workshops specifically designed for professionals engaged in the prevention and management of this issue..

In 2021, our focus was on children, exploring the various facets of their protection and well-being. The following year, in 2022, our thematic series delved into the field of psychology, highlighting the psychological implications of FGM and providing tools for a holistic approach

In 2023, our series focused on the sexological aspect, closely examining the sexual issues related to FGM. All these sessions, rich in knowledge and perspectives, are now available for replay on our YouTube channel. For detailed summaries of each workshop,, visit this dedicated page and continue to stay informed and contribute to the fight against FGM. The workshops are available for replay, in French.
