GAMS Belgium campaign
Together, let’s make this trip a good memory!
A few weeks before the holidays, GAMS Belgium is launching its awareness campaign to prevent female genital mutilation when returning to the homeland as part of our associative project: the FGM collective, in partnership with AWSA-be, Oasis Belgium and the family planning center of Liège. Our common objective is to reach a maximum number of people affected by female genital mutilation.
In this type of situation, a stay in your country of origin is full of mixed feelings: between the happiness of finding your family, of presenting your children born∙ in Belgium but also the fear of not being able to protect your child from an excision. GAMS Belgium wants to show through a series of photos that with a good preparation, one can leave with a light heart and make this trip a good memory. Stay tuned on the GAMS Belgium networks: Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn, during the month of June. And above all, share our publications with those concerned who may need guidance and support.
We would like to warmly thank the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles and the Minister Bénédicte Linard for financing this campaign within the framework of the Women’s Rights Plan. Finally, we would like to thank the people concerned who actively participated in the creation of this campaign through different focus groups, namely the members of our team as well as our soon-to-be community volunteers. This campaign is first and foremost theirs.
