CAMPAIGN
National awareness-raising campaign before the summer holidays
A national campaign to prevent female genital mutilation (FGM) during the summer holidays was launched on May 23rd in Brussels. GAMS Belgium will welcome Halimata Fofana, an inspirational author who has just published her second novel “À l’ombre de la cité Rimbaud”. She talks about FGM, forced marriages, but also how school, books and music helped her find her way.
Between 23rd and 26th May our campaign patron, Halimata Fofana, has met the general public, professionals from the care and education sectors, families affected by FGM and a group of children in a school in Belgium. A teaching tool has been developed especially for this occasion to interact with the classes. It will be available on request at info@gams.be.
Watch the awareness raising film made for the campaign with Halimata Fofana here.
Literary encounters, film debates, activities in a Liège school and webinars – all these activities have punctuated our campaign this year. Take a look back at this busy week in pictures!
