Khadidiatou Diallo, of Senegalese origin, arrived in Belgium in the 1980s. She then took literacy classes, and obtained her CEB by writing her TFE (final year thesis) entitled “Mon jardin devasté”, for which she studied the question of FGM. While she simply wanted to talk about a tradition of her native culture, she realized through her research that FGM is not a beneficial practice. Worse still, it’s not a religious requirement but constitutes, above all, violence against women. .

To combat this scourge, Khadidiatou created GAMS Belgium in 1996. A visionary and energetic woman, she has surrounded herself with a motivated team to set up the projects she develops when it comes to defending children’s rights.
